Yesterday, PlayStation’s State of Play dropped a massive reveal for horror fans. Firesprite released a brand-new trailer for ‘Until Dawn 2’. Consequently, the developers confirmed deep ties between the upcoming sequel and the original game. Furthermore, fans finally have a solid release date. Until Dawn 2 will officially launch on January 28, 2027.
Until Dawn 2 has Strong Ties to Blackwood Sanatorium
Initially, Firesprite revealed Until Dawn 2 back in June as a completely new story. However, the latest trailer proves otherwise. The sequel directly revisits Blackwood Sanatorium. Returning fans remember this facility as a crucial location for uncovering the original game’s Wendigo mystery.
Now, a new group visits the abandoned asylum. They plan to film an episode exploring the tragic events from 12 years ago. Moreover, the new trailer confirmed a familiar face. Peter Stormare officially reprises his role as Dr. Hill. In the first game, Dr. Hill’s appearances linked heavily to Joshua Washington’s deteriorating mental state. Nevertheless, Firesprite has not confirmed if Josh or any other original survivors will return. Therefore, Dr. Hill’s presence does not guarantee anyone else’s survival. Still, it hints that the sequel preserves the original mythology.
Meet the “Dead True” Crew
The sequel introduces eight completely new protagonists. Together, they form “Dead True”. This group of paranormal content creators usually stages fake encounters for their videos. However, their luck completely runs out when they face a genuine supernatural threat.
During their visit to Blackwood Sanatorium, a new intern named Izzy changes everything. Played by Sarah Catherine Hook, Izzy discovers something that abruptly derails their filming plans. Subsequently, the crew travels to HorrorCon in Sydney, Australia. There, they cross paths with Yoona. She previously survived a terrifying encounter with a supernatural entity. Ultimately, Yoona draws the entire group toward Akishima Island in the South Pacific. This isolated island serves as the primary setting for the game’s new supernatural nightmare.
