In 2025, the Sindh government will distribute an extra 500,000 solar systems to low-income households, allowing them to alleviate their heavy electricity expenses.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced in Sukkur that 50,000 solar systems have been distributed so far and that the remaining units will be distributed soon. The government had originally intended to distribute 200,000 systems under the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).
Under Bilawal Bhutto’s leadership, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) plans to increase access to renewable energy for low-income people by distributing an extra half a million solar systems to families in need later this year.
In addition, the chief minister brought attention to a waste-to-energy project in Karachi. The initiative aims to convert 15,000 tonnes of waste daily into 50 megawatts of electricity.
“This initiative will not only help manage urban waste but also contribute to Sindh’s renewable energy goals,” the Sindh Chief Minister said.
