The Sindh government has decided to launch exclusive bus routes under a public-private partnership model, alongside a new Peoples Bus Service route connecting Larkana and Qambar.
The decisions were announced by Senior Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon during a departmental review meeting.
Under the new arrangement, selected routes will be handed over to private investment companies and individuals for operation. These routes will run modern, air-conditioned electric buses, with allocation carried out through auctions or other competitive methods.
The minister said the initiative aims to provide citizens with quality, safe, and modern travel facilities while promoting private investment in the transport sector.
Memon also directed officials to launch the Larkana-to-Qambar route at the earliest. He said the new route would provide improved travel facilities to thousands of residents and boost commercial activity and movement between the two districts.
Officials were instructed to complete all administrative and operational steps required for the routes’ launch without delay.
