Six of the 11 electric buses deployed to Murree under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif Green Bus Electric Bus project have been found to have technical faults, prompting the district administration to pull them from service until repairs are completed.
Murree Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi personally led a technical team to inspect the buses after the faults were discovered and wrote to the transport secretary demanding immediate repair and full fitness clearance.
Officials said Chinese engineers would visit Murree to fix the faults and carry out a complete inspection and repair of the fleet. The deputy commissioner has directed that none of the affected buses be allowed on the roads until they are fully repaired and technically cleared.
The district administration said it was taking every possible precautionary measure to protect the public from inconvenience or substandard service, adding that safer and more comprehensive travel facilities would be provided to citizens and tourists once the buses were certified fit.
The 11 electric buses were handed over to the Murree district administration in June on the special instructions of Punjab chief minister, aimed at reducing environmental pollution and offering modern, safe and comfortable travel facilities to residents and tourists.
