Pakistan has finally started to get active in the market of mobile apps, and in this new tide of apps, we are witnessing some really amazing apps coming up in the Pakistani market. One of these innovative little apps is Slide, which is basically a combination of news and lock-screen app for Android.
Slide is a lock-screen application that takes an interesting take on displaying infotainment from the comfort of your lock screen. Be it reading your favorite blogs or staying updated with latest happenings pertaining to fashion, news, health and movies, Slide provides you with an alternative to do all that directly from your phone’s lock-screen. Along with that, it also has a rather unique concept of rewards that actually pay the users for using the app. Rewards and offers is Slide’s developers’ idea of encouraging users to unlock their phones more, and even make them share Slide with their friends.
To its very core, Slide is a news app.
With some beautiful Material Design-based aesthetics, the app does catch your eye. After you are done with the installation, you will be asked to sign in with your Facebook account and then you can simply choose your own interests(sports, entertainment, business, tech, etc.). Now, whenever you unlock your phone, it’ll show a curated list of articles, based on your preferences. Here, you get three options!
- Swipe left to open the displayed article in your default browser.
- Swipe right to simply unlock your phone.
- Swipe up to view another story!
Slide also promises to deliver fresh content each time you open your phone.
Note: If you already have a lock(pattern or pin) set on your phone, Slide will simply implement its own locking system over that. This way, you have to effectively go through both the locks, so unless you want to go through all the hassle, you should disable your default Android lock screen manually by going to the settings.
Slide Rewards
Slide allows users to earn money in a number of ways with their app, which can later be used for mobile balance or donating a humanitarian cause. Additionally, if you invite a friend, both, you and your friend, will receive a top up of Rs. 10.
Explaining the motive behind Slide, Junaid Malik CEO of SLIDE Pakistan excitedly stated, “Our product will consolidate local/Global content under one app that will be available on every android locks screen.”
