Spotify has begun beta testing AI-powered audiobook recaps for iOS users, aiming to simplify resuming listening sessions. The feature summarizes audiobooks up to the point where users last stopped, letting them quickly catch up.
Currently, recaps are available for a limited selection of English-language audiobooks. Spotify plans to expand access to more titles soon. The Recap button appears above the chapters section and becomes visible after at least 15 minutes of listening.
“Recaps only cover the portion of the book you’ve already heard. Much like a “previously on” feature for TV, Recaps help you easily re-engage with a story without needing to relisten. Designed to reduce friction and keep you immersed, Recaps are part of our ongoing effort to make audiobook listening more seamless, intuitive, and listener-friendly.”
Alongside this, Spotify introduced updated shuffle controls for Premium users. The new Fewer Repeats feature reduces the chances of recently played songs repeating. Users can enable it in the app’s Settings under the Playback menu.
