We are officially exactly two months away from the biggest gaming event of the decade. Rockstar Games will release Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 on November 19, 2026. This launch represents the studio’s first major in-house release since Red Dead Redemption 2 dropped in 2018. Naturally, the industry is already asking what the company will do next. We now have official facts regarding Rockstar Games’ upcoming pipeline, including Max Payne remakes.
Remedy Returns to Max Payne
Beyond internal development, Rockstar has officially secured its next major publishing deal. The company will publish the upcoming Max Payne remakes. Remedy Entertainment, the original creator of the first two games, is currently developing the project.
Remedy will bundle these remade classics together and launch them as a single comprehensive title. Additionally, the studio will release the package across modern platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. However, gamers must remain patient. Rockstar will keep its marketing focused entirely on its current flagship. Therefore, you should expect total radio silence regarding Max Payne until well after GTA 6 hits the shelves.
A Single-Player Launch & The Standalone Multiplayer Experience
Rockstar will launch GTA 6 as a strictly single-player experience. Consequently, fans expecting an immediate multiplayer world must adjust their plans. The company confirmed it will not release the online component this year. Instead, players will spend the remainder of 2026 focusing entirely on the core campaign.
So, what will Rockstar develop next internally? The studio is actively working on the GTA 6 Online mode. Furthermore, Rockstar will likely launch this project as a completely standalone multiplayer experience. This strategy makes sense. It directly mirrors how the original Grand Theft Auto Online eventually evolved into its own separate entity over the last decade.
