WhatsApp might not be as fast as Facebook when it comes to introducing new features but it surely introduces necessary features on time. Now the world’s most popular instant messaging app has finally introduced the live location sharing feature.
Live location sharing feature will share your current location with your friends for a certain amount of time. For example, if you choose to share your location with your friend for 3 hours, he’ll be able to see where you are at any time during those 3 hours. Sharing live location is very easy. You just need to open the chat Window with the person you want to share your location with, select attach and then select “location”. There you’ll see the new feature of sharing live location. Just tap on that and pick for how long you want to share your location and tap send.
You can stop sharing your location at any time and the location sharing is end to end encrypted, which means that no one can see your location except the person you’ve shared your location with. If you share your location in a group, everyone in that group will be able to see your location. And if more than one person is sharing the location with you, you’ll see their location on the same map for your convenience.
The new feature will be available for all Android and iOS users in coming weeks. Live location sharing is already available in Google Maps and Facebook Messenger since March. WhatsApp is also planning to bring a payment features which will let you send and receive money within the app. Moreover, it has also introduced WhatsApp Business for small and large businesses.
