The merged Ufone-Telenor company has asked the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to approve a unified tariff framework. The request marks the next step after Pakistan’s biggest telecom merger became legally effective.
According to the sources, Ufone and Telenor customers will continue using their current packages during the transition period. The existing plans will remain available until the PTA approves new tariffs for the merged operator.
For now, Ufone subscribers will stay on Ufone packages. Likewise, Telenor users will continue with their existing plans. However, both customer groups will move to a unified pricing structure once the regulator grants approval.
Sources also said the merged company is now Pakistan’s largest mobile operator by subscriber market share. The combined business will operate under a single framework after the integration process is completed.
The tariff request follows the formal completion of the Ufone-Telenor merger. Last week, the Islamabad High Court approved the amalgamation, clearing the final legal hurdle.
As a result, the merger is now legally effective. Telenor Pakistan no longer exists as a separate legal entity. Instead, all of its assets and liabilities have been transferred to Pakistan Telecommunication Mobile Limited (PTML).
