The Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) has launched a crackdown against the overpricing of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and other essential commodities in Bahawalpur, warning traders and shopkeepers of strict legal action for violating government-notified prices.
Mujtaba Manzoor, SDO of the PERA Force Bahawalpur and Special Magistrate of the Price Control Committee, urged citizens to report any shopkeeper or LPG dealer found selling products above the officially fixed rates. He said the Punjab government is committed to protecting consumers from unfair pricing and ensuring market compliance.
According to the official, PERA is working in coordination with the district administration to monitor markets and prevent profiteering. Residents of Bahawalpur can submit complaints through the SDO’s office or other official complaint channels, with authorities assuring prompt action against violators.
Manzoor reiterated that compliance with government price regulations remains a top priority, adding that the department will continue inspections to ensure the availability of essential commodities at regulated prices across the district
