32 Schools to be transformed into Smart Schools by 2017, Ahsan Iqbal

Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal has directed concerned authorities to complete educational reforms as mentioned in the Vision 2025, by 2017. He was positive that the academic session 2017 should proceed in smart schools as mentioned in these educational reforms.

The Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Reforms, Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, headed a high level meeting on the progress of the Vision 2025 education sector projects, in Islamabad. Besides the development of the Smart Schools, the upgrading schools in ICT territory, teachers’ training programs, examination system reforms, and curriculum reforms were also discussed in the meeting, said a released statement.

Under the government’s smart school project, 32 existing schools will be brought into the umbrella of Smart Schools. Of these 32, 28 schools will be chosen from the ICT area while the rest will be Provincial schools.

The meeting included officials from the Ministry of Capital Administration and Development (CADD), as well as from the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE).

The said meeting, accounted for a major improvement in Ahsan Iqbal’s National Action Plan for promoting STEM education in Pakistan. Mr. Ahsan Iqbal regards the development of STEM education as an integral part of the government’s Vision 2025.
