The Special Communications Organization (SCO) has launched trial 5G services at seven locations across Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to media reports, twenty more sites are scheduled to become operational by the end of this year, which will bring the total number of active 5G sites to 27.
The deployment of high-speed 5G technology is expected to create new opportunities and support growth in tourism, education, healthcare, business and public service delivery.
Last week, SCO successfully tested 5G services in Gilgit-Baltistan, marking a significant step toward next-generation high-speed internet connectivity across the region.
The development is expected to create new opportunities in information technology, e-commerce, online education, telemedicine, tourism and digital entrepreneurship, particularly for young people.
According to SCO, the rollout could strengthen digital services and support economic activity while expanding access to emerging technologies and opportunities across Gilgit-Baltistan.
