The federal government has reduced profit rates on two National Savings schemes, Defence Savings Certificates and Behbood Savings Certificates, and issued the revised rates for September 2026.
Under the new rates, Defence Savings Certificates have a tenure of 10 years. An investment of Rs100,000 will grow to Rs300,000 at maturity.
For a Rs100,000 investment, the certificate value will be Rs110,000 in the first year, Rs121,000 in the second, Rs133,000 in the third, Rs147,000 in the fourth and Rs163,000 in the fifth year.
In the following years, the value will reach Rs182,000 in the sixth year, Rs204,000 in the seventh, Rs230,000 in the eighth and Rs262,000 in the ninth. It will rise to Rs300,000 at maturity in the tenth year.
The government has also lowered the profit rate on Behbood Savings Certificates. Under the revised rate, a Rs100,000 investment will earn a monthly profit of Rs1,050, equal to 12.60 percent annually.
Behbood Savings Certificates were introduced to meet the financial needs of widows and senior citizens.
