Continuing its tradition of launching breathtaking phones with stunning camera quality, Huawei introduced the world to its brand new flagship at an event in Paris yesterday.
The P30 and P30 Pro are essentially upgraded versions of the P20 series, so while the basic elements are still in place, there is a lot of oomph accompanying them. For starters, the newest flagship device has a notch at the front for housing the camera as well, but it is significantly smaller than that of its predecessor and actually resembles a teardrop more than anything else.

Moreover, Huawei has chosen to integrate the fingerprint sensor directly within the display for the P30 series instead of keeping it below the display on the front of the device. While this obviously paved the way to make the device smaller, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer decided to stick to what the do best: ultra-tall displays. The P30 and P30 Pro have 6.1-inch and 6.47-inch displays respectively, with a mind-numbing aspect ratio of 19.5:9.
Like the P20 series, the P30 devices have glass backsides and aluminum frames. They also feature a 2340 x 1080 OLED display, which contributes to the alluring look of the smartphones. Both devices will be available in a total of five intriguing colors: Breathing Crystal, Amber Sunrise, Perl White, Blac, and Aurora.
When pitted against each other, the P30 and P30 Pro are different largely in terms of their displays; while the P30 has a completely flat display, the P30 Pro is slightly curved on the sides. For some reason, only the P30 features a headphone jack, which is bound to create a good deal of hue and cry.
The star feature of any Huawei device is its camera technology, and the P30 series has not disappointed in this regard. The P30 Pro features a phenomenal four camera sensors at the back; the main 40 MP 27 mm sensor, a 20 MP ultra-wide angle lens, an 8 MP telephoto lens and a brand new time-of-flight sensor below the flash. This last one is bound to offer much better bokeh effects.
The P30 cameras are more or less the same, except for the glaring absence of the time-of-flight sensor and the fact that its second sensor has a resolution of 16 MP.
Both devices are powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor and Android Pie 9.1 operating system. While the P30 has 6 GB worth of RAM and 128 GB of storage along with 3650 mAh battery capacity, the P30 Pro features 8 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage with a battery capacity of 4200 mAh.
The P30 will set you back by $900 (PKR 126, 513) while the P30 Pro will cost you $1,130 (PKR 158, 844). While the phones will be available in Europe and Asia, the ongoing tension between USA and China makes an American release unlikely.
