Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has rejected a petition that sought to delay the upcoming Central Superior Services (CSS) 2025 examinations until the results of the CSS 2024 exams are announced.
The petition was submitted by a candidate Hamza Javed, arguing that conducting new tests before the CSS 2024 results were revealed would prevent applicants from reviewing their courses in light of their CSS performance.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani presided over the hearing, during which retired Lt Gen Akhtar Nawaz Satti defended the official decision to maintain tests on schedule as FPSC chairman.
The FPSC chairman informed the court that the FPSC has never waited for the results of one cycle before proceeding to the next. The FPSC followed their decision to proceed because it was consistent with the exam calendar standards, and they had already reserved 88 exam venues across the country.
The Additional Attorney General backed the FPSC’s findings by citing a provision that allows the next inspection procedure to proceed despite unpublished outcomes from the previous cycle.
While Justice Kayani expressed concern over the delay in announcing results, noting that timely results would have prevented such grievances, he ultimately ruled in favor of the FPSC. The candidates kept the freedom to change subjects based on previous performance indicators, but the next exams would follow the original plan.
This decision has elicited a range of responses from candidates, with some articulating their disappointment regarding the lack of opportunity to make more informed choices concerning their subjects. The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has not yet disclosed the specific date for the CSS 2025 examinations.
