CDA Abandons Islamabad IT Park Project

Islamabad’s largest IT park project has been scrapped as the Capital Development Authority (CDA) abandons its leasing process, raising concerns about the city’s technological progress. According to local media reports, the initiative stalled after the CDA failed to issue an Expression of Interest (EOI) for third-party validation of financial bids.
Initially planned for G-10 Markaz, the 97,000-square-foot structure was to be developed into a cutting-edge IT hub, offering workspaces for freelancers, startups, and software firms. The project, structured under a public-private partnership model, promised world-class facilities, including research centers, conference rooms, and coworking spaces.
However, sources indicate that CDA board members are now considering alternative uses for the site, with proposals for a nursing university or another educational institute replacing the original IT park plan. The leasing process, which began in March last year, is now at a complete standstill, leaving the future of Islamabad’s IT hub uncertain.
