Govt Announces Eligibility and Installments for Electric Bikes, Rickshaws

The government has launched the Prime Minister’s Electric Bike and Rickshaw Scheme 2025 under the PAVE program, outlining clear eligibility criteria and installment options for applicants across Pakistan. The initiative is aimed at making eco-friendly transport accessible to low- and middle-income citizens through interest-free loans and subsidies.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the scheme, applicants must:

• Be Pakistani citizens with a valid CNIC.
• Be between 18–65 years old for e-bikes and 21–65 for rickshaws/loaders.
• Hold a valid driving license or learner’s permit (for bikes).
• Possess a rickshaw license (for rickshaw applicants).
• Have no history of bank loan defaults.
• Maintain or be willing to open a bank account.

Special quotas include 25% reserved for women, 10% for delivery riders, and 10% for Balochistan residents. Students and low-income workers will receive priority.

Application Process

Applications are open from September 1 to September 30, 2025, via the official portal (pave.gov.pk). If applications exceed the quota, a computerized e-balloting will take place on October 1, 2025.

Applicants must upload required documents, including CNIC, driving license, student ID (if applicable), salary slip or employment proof, passport-size photographs, and bank account details.

Expected Benefits

The scheme is designed to lower transport costs, reduce reliance on petrol, and promote eco-friendly commuting. By supporting women, students, and small business owners, the program is expected to boost mobility, cut carbon emissions, and generate new jobs in the electric vehicle sector.

This initiative is part of the government’s National Electric Vehicle (NEV) Policy 2025–30, which targets 30% electric vehicle adoption by 2030.
