Authorities Alert Public Over Fake E Challan Messages

Authorities in Karachi and Punjab have issued strong warnings to the public after several reports emerged of citizens receiving fake e-challan messages demanding immediate payment of traffic fines.

According to Karachi Traffic Police, scammers have started sending fraudulent SMS falsely linked to mobile payment services like Easypaisa. Officials clarified that these fake e-challan messages are “misleading and fraudulent” with no connection to the traffic police or any government department.

Citizens have been cautioned not to share personal details or make payments through suspicious numbers and links. For help, the public has been advised to contact the Karachi Traffic Police helpline at 1915.

In Punjab, the Safe City Authority has also raised concern over fake e-challan messages circulating in the province. Officials confirmed that authentic challan SMS are only issued from the number 8070 and never request bank account information. Any message received from a number other than 8070 should be treated as fraudulent.

Citizens have been urged to verify their challans through the official ePay Punjab application or by clicking on government-verified links only. Both Karachi and Punjab authorities stressed that strict action will be taken against fraudsters and reminded the public that all official challan information is accessible exclusively through designated government platforms.
