Punjab Hikes Traffic Fines 10x To Curb Violations

The Sindh government has enforced a new traffic penalty system with fines reaching Rs. 100,000, covering speeding, reckless driving, driving without licenses, wrong-way movement, and illegal parking. The move is aimed at curbing road accidents and enforcing discipline across the province.

The background of this decision lies in the growing rate of traffic accidents and violations. Officials believe that strict fines will create deterrence and promote safer driving practices. DIG Traffic highlighted that the revised penalties will be applied uniformly to ensure accountability for all road users.

Here are the revised fines under the new rules:

Authorities have also linked certain violations to a demerit points system, which can affect a driver’s record and license validity.

Officials stressed that,

“These strict penalties are not for revenue collection but for ensuring discipline and reducing road accidents in Sindh.”

This sweeping move by the Sindh government is expected to create safer roads and reduce reckless driving across the province.
