Buraq Automobiles will begin assembling heavy motorcycles from Italian and Chinese brands in Pakistan from January 2027, a move expected to cut the prices of imported bikes by lakhs of rupees.
Chief Executive Officer Mubeen Ahmed said the assembly plant will be fully ready by December this year, with regular production to follow in January. The company also plans to introduce bikes fitted with electronic fuel injection (EFI) engines.
Buraq Automobiles currently imports and distributes Benelli, Moto Morini and QJMOTOR motorcycles in the country.
The first model to be assembled locally will be the Moto Morini Alltrhike 450 adventure bike, followed by a 300cc model. The company also plans to assemble a bike from another international brand, whose name has not been disclosed.
Local assembly will reduce the import duty burden. The Alltrhike 450 is currently priced at Rs2.6 million as an imported unit. Ahmed said its price could fall by about 23 percent to Rs1.995 million once it is assembled in Pakistan.
He added that prices could come down further if the government’s proposed auto policy reduces duties on completely knocked down (CKD) kits.
