Legal proceedings have begun against LUNA Coffee Pakistan in the Consumer Protection Court, Karachi (South). The case was registered over claims of deceptive marketing and brand imitation.
The complaint was filed by Abdullah Bin Masood, represented by Barrister Hasan Khurshid Hashmi, Advocate Supreme Court. It accuses LUNA Coffee Pakistan of copying the brand identity, logo, and overall design of foreign coffee chains. These include LUNA Coffee Saudi Arabia, LUNA Russia, and LUNA Dubai.
According to the complaint, this imitation allegedly misled customers into believing that LUNA Coffee Pakistan was an authorised franchise of these international brands.
Following an initial hearing, the court issued a notice under Section 26 of the Sindh Consumer Protection Act, 2014. It directed the company to respond to the charges. The court also warned that failure to appear or submit a defence could result in an ex parte decision. The next hearing is scheduled for November 21, 2025.
In a statement, LUNA Coffee Pakistan denied all allegations. They called the complaint misconceived, legally unsustainable, and motivated by mala fide intent.
The company clarified that it is an independent Pakistani brand, established in Karachi in 2024, with no affiliation or endorsement from any foreign entity. It added that its trademarks are duly registered with the Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan, confirming the brand’s originality and legal standing.
The company also dismissed claims of deceptive pricing or poor service, asserting that all products are sold at fair market rates and that no complaint was raised at the time of purchase.
The company concluded by stating it will vigorously defend itself against any false or malicious legal action.
