Punjab Schools Winter Vacations Announced Board Exams Postponed

The Islamabad High Court has officially announced a 15 day winter vacation beginning December 24, marking a coordinated seasonal break as provinces across Pakistan finalize their academic and judicial schedules for the peak winter period.

The notification, issued by IHC Registrar Muhammad Yar Walana and approved by Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar, confirms the holidays from December 24, 2025, to January 8, 2026.

Before the IHC announcement, Balochistan had already declared its annual extended winter break for colder regions, starting December 16. Schools there will remain closed for over two and a half months, reopening on March 1, a routine measure taken every year due to severe weather.

In contrast, Punjab has finalized its winter holidays from December 23, 2025, to January 12, 2026, with all educational institutions public and private required to follow the same uniform schedule.

In Chaman, junior class examinations began on November 16 and will continue till November 24.
Exams for Class 8, conducted by the Balochistan Board, will start from November 24.

Authorities in both provinces have directed school administrations to wrap up all academic activities before vacations officially begin.

The Education Department reiterated that the break is essential, as temperatures are expected to drop sharply from late December.
Administrators have been asked to ensure the smooth completion of examinations and pre-vacation tasks.
