Google Pixel 9 Series Could Soon Support Quick Share with iPhones
Google is expanding Quick Share beyond its newest Pixel phones, aiming to bring file sharing with iPhones to older models. The Pixel 10 series received this feature in November last year, and now the Pixel 9 lineup appears next in line. A recent Android Canary build for Pixel 9 includes system files needed to enable Quick Share transfers between Android and iPhone.
Interestingly, these files are missing from the Pixel 9a and Pixel 8 builds, suggesting Google has not started testing the feature on those devices yet. When Quick Share added interoperability with Apple’s AirDrop, Google confirmed that older Pixels and other Android phones would eventually get support. This update shows the company is steadily moving to make the feature available on more devices.
The rollout could happen with the Android 16 QPR3 update for Pixel 9, or it may arrive in a future stable release. Either way, Pixel users should expect easier file sharing with iPhones soon.
