Apple is giving older iPhone users another year of free access to its satellite features. A footnote in the iPhone 18 Pro press release confirms the extension. The offer applies to compatible iPhones dating back to the iPhone 14 series.
Users can continue using Emergency SOS via satellite, Messages via satellite, Find My via satellite, and Roadside Assistance via satellite. The features will remain free for at least another year. There is one key requirement. Eligible iPhones must have been activated before September 9, 2026, to receive the additional year of access.
This is the third time Apple has extended free satellite access for the iPhone 14 series. The company first introduced these features with the iPhone 14 lineup. Apple also extended the offer to the iPhone 15 series last year after the iPhone 17 lineup launched. This latest extension marks the first such extension for the iPhone 16 series.
Apple continues to describe the satellite services as a “free trial.” However, the company has not shared pricing details for the services after the trial ends. For now, owners of eligible older iPhones can continue using the satellite features without paying. The extension gives Apple more time to decide how it will price the services in the future.
