Thin phones usually force buyers to choose between design and performance. Honor is trying to avoid that tradeoff with the Magic8 Pro Air. The company positions it as a rival to Apple’s iPhone Air and other recently released slim Android phones.
Instead of cutting corners, Honor packs the Magic8 Pro Air with features usually reserved for flagship models. The phone combines a triple camera system, a large battery, and a compact display aimed at easier one-handed use. This approach sets it apart in a category known for compromises.
The Magic8 Pro Air uses a 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 1,216 x 2,640px resolution. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate and reaches up to 6,000 nits peak local brightness. Honor also includes a 50MP front camera and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
At just 6.1mm thick and 155 grams, the device stays remarkably light. It features an aluminum frame paired with a glass back. Honor still manages to include stereo speakers and a physical Nano SIM slot supporting two cards. eSIM support is also available. The phone carries IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance ratings.
On the back, a camera visor houses three sensors. The main camera is a 23mm equivalent 50MP shooter with a 1/1.3-inch sensor, ƒ/1.6 aperture, and OIS. It is joined by a 74mm equivalent 64MP periscope telephoto camera. This lens uses a 1/1.2-inch sensor, ƒ/2.6 aperture, 3.2x optical zoom, and OIS. The third camera is a 16mm equivalent 50MP ultrawide lens that also handles macro shots.
Battery size is another area where Honor avoids typical thin-phone limits. The Magic8 Pro Air packs a 5,500mAh battery using silicon-carbon anode technology. It supports 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
Performance is handled by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chip. The phone ships with up to 16GB LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. It runs MagicOS 10, which is based on Android 16.
Honor offers the Magic8 Pro Air in Shadow Black, Fairy Purple, Feather White, and Light Orange. Pricing starts at CNY 4,999, or about $717, for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model. The top variant costs CNY 5,999, or roughly $860, with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage.
Open sales in China begin on January 23. Honor has not shared details about availability in Pakistan or other global markets yet.
