Islamabad’s Federal Directorate of Education has introduced a new full-time Career Counselling Program aimed at guiding students through their academic and career choices. The initiative, designed for FDE schools and colleges, spans from the elementary level to BS programs, offering students structured support in planning their futures.
The two-year program connects students with a consortium of professional firms to provide practical guidance and insights. Federal Secretary for Education Nadeem Mahbub visited an ongoing session at Islamabad Model College for Girls, F-6/2, to observe the program in action. Senior FDE officials, including Director General Syed Junaid Akhlaq and Director of Academics Riffat Jabeen, were also present.
Students enrolled in the program will benefit from psychometric aptitude assessments, personalized career guidance, and detailed information on higher education opportunities. The program also covers entry tests, technical and vocational education options, industry connections, and sessions to involve parents in career planning.
A key feature of the initiative is the creation of standardized counselling content and a data-driven dashboard. This system will help FDE track student progress, support evidence-based decisions, and ensure consistent career guidance across all institutions.
FDE officials said the program demonstrates their commitment to preparing students for diverse academic, technical, and professional paths. By combining expert advice with structured tools, the program aims to equip students with the knowledge they need to make informed career choices.
