Rawalpindi has taken a major step to simplify the driving license process as Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam announced expanded driving test facilities at the Traffic Headquarters. The move aims to reduce waiting times, improve efficiency, and offer greater convenience to citizens seeking learner or permanent driving licenses.
According to a traffic police spokesperson, the number of driving test tracks at the Rawalpindi Traffic Headquarters has been increased from one to two due to rising public demand. Additional test vehicles have also been introduced, allowing more applicants to appear for their driving tests each day.
“These improvements are designed to make the licensing process faster and more citizen-friendly,” the spokesperson said, adding that the department is continuously working to enhance public services.
Citizens can now choose to take their driving tests in either automatic or manual vehicles, a facility that was previously limited. This change is expected to particularly benefit new drivers who prefer automatic transmission.
The same-day issuance of learner and permanent driving licenses for motorcyclists remains operational, helping applicants avoid repeated visits.
Rawalpindi Traffic Police has been gradually upgrading its licensing system in response to growing traffic volume and increasing numbers of new drivers. The latest expansion reflects the department’s broader push toward modernized, accessible, and transparent public services.
