Apple is expected to launch its next budget-friendly iPhone, the iPhone 17e, later this month. Sources say the company will likely announce the device through a press release on February 19. If the schedule holds, it would follow Apple’s usual pattern, as the iPhone 16e launched in February last year.
Reports indicate the iPhone 17e will keep a design very similar to its predecessor. The phone will continue using a notch instead of the newer Dynamic Island design found on higher-end iPhone models. The overall look is expected to remain familiar to users of the 16e.
On the hardware front, the iPhone 17e is expected to support MagSafe and wireless charging speeds of up to 25 watts. The source adds that Apple’s A19 chipset will power the device. It will also feature the second-generation Apple C1X modem and the N1 wireless network chip. Other specifications are expected to stay largely unchanged from the iPhone 16e.
The iPhone 17e appears set to offer modest improvements while keeping a familiar design, targeting users who want a capable iPhone without premium features.
The report also touched on Apple’s next tablet. The upcoming iPad 12 is said to use the A18 processor rather than the A19 chip mentioned in earlier rumors. This suggests Apple is reserving its newest hardware for the iPhone line before bringing it to tablets.
