Team India have dominated the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026, finishing the group stage unbeaten at the top of Group A after securing victories in all four matches.
Yet their commanding campaign has contrasted sharply with the struggles of opener Abhishek Sharma, who remains without a run after three appearances in the tournament.
The 25-year-old batter has been dismissed for ducks against the United States, Pakistan, and the Netherlands, extending a sequence that has resulted in multiple unwanted statistical records.
With these three successive zeros, the left-handed batter has equalled the record for the most consecutive ducks in a Men’s T20 World Cup edition during the 2026 tournament.
His sequence is now the joint-highest in the history of the T20 World Cup, marking a difficult phase for the Indian batter despite his strong form before the ongoing tournament began.
The hard-hitter is only the second Indian to register three consecutive ducks in the event after Ashish Nehra, while Andre Fletcher and Roger Mukasa also share the record.
In the 2026 calendar year, Abhishek has recorded five ducks in Men’s T20 Internationals, the joint second-most in a single year, with only Saim Ayub registering more with six in 2025.
