Brazilian footballer Kathellen Souza has embraced Islam while in Saudi Arabia and performed Umrah, marking a significant spiritual milestone in her personal life.
Al-Nassr, her Saudi football club, announced that their Brazilian player Kathellen Souza had embraced Islam, celebrating the occasion within the club alongside her fellow teammates.
The club shared a video of Souza on its official X platform, capturing her emotions during the announcement and highlighting this special moment in her life with heartfelt prayers.
Souza appeared visibly emotional in the video, explaining that she had been searching for the right spiritual path and wished to embrace a better version of herself through faith.

After her conversion, Souza performed Umrah at Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, fulfilling a personal aspiration while receiving blessings and support from her teammates.
Kathellen is a centre-back who captains Al-Nassr in the Saudi Women’s Premier League and also represents the Brazil national team at the highest international football level.
Growing up in Baixada Santista, she played futsal before moving to the United States to compete in college soccer with Monroe College, the Louisville Cardinals, and the UCF Knights.
She began her professional career with FC Girondins de Bordeaux, later joining Inter Milan and Real Madrid before signing with Al-Nassr in 2024, while making her Brazil senior debut in 2018 as a defender.
