The Sindh government has announced plans to expand Karachi’s public transport fleet by introducing more buses, aiming to improve commuting facilities and ensure safer, reliable, and affordable transport for city residents.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department chaired by Sharjeel Inam Memon. Officials reviewed ongoing projects, including the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor, and identified routes where commuters face the most difficulties.
Sharjeel Inam Memon directed authorities to accelerate the induction of new buses and enhance passenger convenience.
The minister also emphasized the need for an effective public awareness campaign to keep citizens informed about development projects and minimize disruption during construction activities.
Additionally, the meeting approved the immediate start of the second phase of the Senator Taj Haider Bridge, highlighting the government’s commitment to modernizing Karachi’s transport infrastructure.
With additional buses and ongoing BRT projects, the Sindh government aims to create a modern, efficient, and reliable public transport system in Karachi, making daily commuting safer and more convenient for residents.
