A drone attack targeted oil facilities near Ras Tanura in Saudi Arabia, prompting emergency measures at the port where a Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) chartered vessel was loading oil.
Shipping sources said the attack occurred during oil loading operations for Pakistan, leading authorities to declare an emergency on the PNSC chartered vessel present at Ras Tanura port.
Following the drone incident, oil loading operations on the Pakistan-bound chartered ship were immediately suspended as a precautionary measure amid security concerns at the port.
A spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Defence told Arab media that two drones were shot down near Saudi Aramco’s Ras Tanura facilities.
The spokesperson said no civilians were injured in the incident, although debris from the intercepted drones caused a limited fire within the refinery complex.
According to a foreign news agency, the refinery adjacent to Ras Tanura port was shut down after the attack and the resulting limited fire was brought under control.
Pakistan National Shipping Corporation had chartered the vessel involved in the incident, which was loading oil destined for Pakistan when the attack took place.
Saudi Aramco operates the Ras Tanura facilities, where authorities confirmed that operations were halted temporarily while security measures were reviewed following the drone attack.
