Punjab has taken a major step toward technological transformation as Maryam Nawaz, Chief Minister of Punjab, approved the province’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) Roadmap, aiming to position Punjab as the leading AI province in South Asia by 2029.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by the chief minister, where officials discussed plans to integrate Artificial Intelligence across government departments to improve efficiency and modernize public services.
As part of the initiative, the government has also approved the establishment of an AI Technical Advisory Board, which will include high-level experts in technology and artificial intelligence to guide policy and implementation.
According to the roadmap schedule, the Punjab AI Roadmap Manifesto will be officially launched later this month. In addition, the province plans to introduce the world’s first AI Delivery Unit at an international launch event in June 2026.
Maryam Nawaz said the government aims to enhance performance across every sector through AI-driven solutions, highlighting that emerging technologies will play a key role in improving governance and public services in the province.
The initiative reflects Punjab’s broader push toward digital transformation and innovation, with authorities seeking to strengthen the province’s position in the regional technology landscape.
