Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (PSX: SAZEW) is moving aggressively to dominate the local automotive market. Today, the company announced a major leadership transition and a multi-billion rupee expansion strategy. This plan targets a massive increase in SUV production capacity to meet growing demand.
New Leadership to Drive Growth
The board has officially restructured its top management. Effective March 28, 2026, Saira Asad Hameed serves as the new Chairperson. Mian Asad Hameed has been re-appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for a three-year term.
Furthermore, the company has appointed specialized Chief Operating Officers for its core divisions. Saeed Iqbal Khan now leads the three-wheeler and automotive parts division. Meanwhile, Mian Muhammad Ali Hameed will oversee the car division. These appointments signal a focused approach to scaling operations across all segments.
Rs. 22 Billion Investment by Sazgar Engineering in Manufacturing
Sazgar is putting serious capital behind its ambitions. The board approved a fresh Rs. 22 billion investment plan. This budget specifically funds a brand-new, fully automatic paint shop and ancillary facilities.
Once operational, this expansion will push the plant’s total assembly capacity to 54,000 units per year. This figure is based on a single-shift operation. Consequently, this move positions Sazgar as a heavyweight in the four-wheeler and hybrid vehicle segment. This new phase follows the successful completion of a previous Rs. 11.50 billion expansion that integrated solar power and new warehousing.
Future Infrastructure & TANK 500 Rollout
The company is also securing land for long-term growth. It approved Rs. 4 billion to purchase approximately 900 kanals near its existing car plant. Additionally, Sazgar plans to spend Rs. 1.10 billion on Pine Avenue, Lahore. This commercial plot will host a company-owned showroom, after-sales service facilities, and corporate offices.
On the product front, the wait is almost over. The first CKD models of the TANK 500 Hi4 T 4X4 2.0L Turbo (PHEV and HEV) are expected to roll out by the end of March 2026. This launch marks a significant milestone in Sazgar’s shift toward advanced hybrid technology.
