Punjab Police has made biometric verification compulsory at every police station, requiring all complaints and accused persons to be verified before formal registration.
The system has been introduced in partnership with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to strengthen identity checks across the province.
Authorities have directed that all police stations across the province activate the biometric module within the Police Station Record Management System for full integration.
Every police station has been given seven days to ensure biometric devices are available, with officers asked to inspect existing equipment stocks.
The initiative will also record attendance of police personnel through the same biometric system, covering both staff and members of the general public.
Officials say the move is aimed at improving transparency and streamlining identity verification of suspects and citizens at all stations.
The office of the Inspector General of Punjab has required a compliance report to be submitted within seven days, covering all stations province-wide.
