The Government of Sindh has suspended the annual honorarium for employees and officers of the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department (SGA&CD), impacting more than 1,000 government workers.
The decision was taken by Syed Asif Haider Shah, who rejected a proposal seeking the release of funds allocated for the allowance.
According to officials, the department had recommended the disbursement of the honorarium for the fiscal years 2025 and 2026, but the proposal was ultimately turned down, and no payments were released.
Sources revealed that the summary had been forwarded through proper channels, including submission to the Sindh Finance Department, after approval from the chief secretary. However, the process was halted before final authorization.
The decision has triggered concern among affected employees, many of whom rely on the annual honorarium as a supplementary income.
Staff members stated that they frequently work beyond official hours, and the suspension of the allowance has created financial strain, especially amid rising living costs.
Employees have urged the authorities to reconsider the decision, emphasizing the importance of the honorarium in supporting their financial needs and recognizing their extra workload.
