The provincial government of Punjab has transferred Rs22 billion directly into bank accounts of 1.2 million registered workers across the province under the Ration Card Programme.
According to the details, each enrolled worker receives a monthly subsidy of Rs3,000 deposited directly into their individual bank account through the Ration Card system.
Provincial Minister for Labour Muhammad Manasha Allah Butt confirmed that account opening for all enrolled workers was completed across the province in a short time.
The Social Security Department carried out the account-opening process successfully, according to the statement made by the minister at a press briefing.
Minister Butt stated that steps to support the welfare of workers are continuing and that providing relief to labourers remains a top priority of the Punjab government.
Earlier this year, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched the Punjab Ration Card Program 2025, enabling citizens to apply online for monthly financial assistance through digital registration.
The program targets 1.25 million low‑income households, offering Rs3,000 monthly via smart cards, allowing families to purchase essential kitchen items like flour, rice, sugar, and ghee.
Beneficiaries listed in the Punjab Ration Card database can access support at utility stores and registered karyana shops, ensuring affordability and accessibility for basic household needs.
