Rawalpindi police have arrested an Indian national on Monday in the Westridge area and registered a formal case against him following an official complaint.
As per the details, officers grew suspicious after the man turned back upon seeing police near Chohar Chowk, while he had been heading in the direction of Dhamiyaal.
When stopped and asked for identification the authority, the man could not produce any valid documents, prompting police to detain him for further questioning.
The Indian national identified himself as Diler Mushtaq, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Sufi, and told officers that he was a resident of India.
A search of the suspect recovered two ballpoint pens and 1,750 Pakistani rupees from his possession, according to details recorded in the first information report.
The FIR states that the accused entered Pakistan through illegal means and had been residing in the country unlawfully, constituting an offence under applicable laws.
