The provincial Education Minister of Punjab Rana Sikandar Hayat announced on Monday that all schools in the province will begin summer vacation on 22 May this year.
According to the details, students across Punjab will remain off school until 23 August, giving them a summer break lasting just over three full months in total.
The Punjab Disaster Management Authority had warned last week of above-normal temperatures and heavy rainfall expected to continue across the province until July.
Pakistan Meteorological Office cautioned that heatwaves, flash floods, urban flooding, and windstorms could affect several regions of the country in the coming months.
Weather officials also warned that rising temperatures may trigger strong winds, dust storms, and hailstorms, potentially damaging seasonal crops, vegetables, and orchards.
