A young Pakistani founder recently caught attention online after securing a free one-year domain renewal from GoDaddy by sending a cold email directly to the company’s CEO.
The founder shared that he was struggling to pay the $60 renewal fee for his domain. Since he could not afford the amount, he decided to try something unusual. He rewrote a famous cold email example he had seen online and adjusted it to match his own situation.
Instead of sending the message to customer support, he emailed GoDaddy’s top executive and explained his problem honestly. He hoped the company might help him continue working on his project. A few days later, he received a response from GoDaddy’s Office of the CEO.
According to a screenshot shared online, the company confirmed that it had reviewed his request and renewed the domain for one additional year as a one-time courtesy. The email also advised him to keep a valid payment method on file and turn on auto-renewal before the next billing cycle.
The story quickly gained attention across social media platforms. Many users praised the founder for taking a chance and writing directly to the company’s leadership. Others pointed out how a simple and well-written email managed to solve a serious problem for a young entrepreneur.
The founder later explained that he had only modified an existing cold email template and made it personal. However, that small effort helped him save his project at an important stage.
The incident also highlights how cold emails can still work when written clearly and honestly. While not every request gets a response, this case shows that direct communication can sometimes open unexpected doors for young founders and startups.
