Electricity consumers face another financial burden as a proposal seeks an increase of Rs1.72 per unit, with hearings scheduled today at the regulatory authority.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency submitted a request to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), seeking approval for April’s fuel price adjustment due to higher generation costs.
If approved, the increase will apply across all distribution companies, including K‑Electric, directly impacting millions of consumers through higher monthly electricity bills.
NEPRA will conduct the hearing today, reviewing the petition filed by CPPA, and determine whether the proposed Rs1.72 per unit increase is justified under prevailing fuel costs.
