Airlink Communication Limited will launch its electric bike brand, Air EV, on November 4, 2026, with deliveries expected to begin within about a week.
The company disclosed the plan at its annual general meeting, according to a report by Arif Habib Limited (AHL) on Tuesday. The move marks the expansion of Airlink beyond its core mobile phone business into the electric two-wheeler market.
The bikes will use replaceable lithium-ion batteries.
Management is targeting up to 95 percent local manufacturing over time. Initially, the company will source electric bikes from international partners offering competitive pricing before shifting gradually to local assembly and manufacturing. Lithium-ion batteries will be procured locally at the start.
Airlink has also set up Airfin, a unit that will provide buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) financing for smartphones, televisions, air conditioners and electric bikes. Management expects the initiative to support net margins and offset pressure from slower mobile phone sales. It also believes monthly instalments will make new smartphones more affordable and help the company compete with the used-phone market.
The company is seeking to expand its consumer appliance sales as well. It expects air conditioner sales to reach 65,000 units in 2027 and 95,000 units in 2028. Television sales are projected at 50,000 units in 2027 and 65,000 units in 2028.
Airlink was incorporated as a private limited company in January 2014 and converted into a public limited company in April 2019. It is engaged in the import, export, distribution, indenting, wholesale and retail of communication and IT-related products and services, including smartphones, cellular phones, tablets and laptop accessories.
In July, Airlink announced the establishment of an electric bike manufacturing plant under its own brand.
