The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Ministry of IT & Telecom (MoITT) have successfully collaborated to launch official 5G services for iPhones across the country.
Apple maintains a strict global policy regarding cellular network updates. Typically, the tech giant launches 5G services in any country exactly one year after the local licenses are issued. Because of aggressive negotiation and teamwork, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Ministry of IT & Telecom (MoITT) successfully bypassed standard delays to bring 5G on iPhones for Pakistani users.
There is a catch for users with older Apple hardware. Currently, the 5G activation only applies to the iPhone 17 series and newer models. If you own an iPhone 16 or older, you will have to wait. PTA officials confirmed that activating 5G on older iPhone models will take some additional time.
The activation aligns perfectly with the network expansion across 22 Pakistani cities. Consequently, compatible iPhone users living in active zones like Islamabad’s F-8 sector can immediately switch on their 5G toggles. Expect cellular carriers to push official carrier settings updates to eligible devices over the coming days.
