Playground Games recently shared a massive update on Fable during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026. However, fans will have to wait longer than initially expected. The developer officially delayed the game out of 2026 entirely. Fable will now launch on February 23, 2027.
Despite the delay, the showcase delivered plenty of fresh details. Playground Games dropped two new trailers. These trailers revealed the game’s main antagonist, returning legacy characters, and extensive pre-order bonuses.

An MCU Star Joins as Main Villain in Fable
The first trailer introduced players to Isabel, the Hero of Wraithmarsh. Marvel Cinematic Universe fans will immediately recognize her. Hayley Atwell, famous for playing Agent Peggy Carter, brings this new villain to life.
The trailer utilized a mockumentary-style interview format. Through this format, Isabel recalled a tragic backstory that caused her powers to manifest. Interestingly, she views herself as the actual hero. Disillusioned with the current state of Albion, Isabel wants to fix the world. Consequently, this mission puts her on a direct collision course with the players.
Jack of Blades Returns Alongside Classic Features
Isabel is not the only threat lurking in Albion. The new footage also confirmed the return of Jack of Blades. Longtime fans know this ancient void entity as the main antagonist of the original game. Previously, Jack used his mask to host bodies and live forever. Therefore, this is likely how he returns in the upcoming game. However, he will not serve as the primary villain this time around.
Furthermore, Playground Games is heavily honoring the franchise’s roots. The studio brings back iconic locations like Bowserstone. Moreover, the classic morality system returns. This system will heavily impact how NPCs view your character throughout the world.
Pre-Order Details & Premium Editions
Pre-orders for Fable are officially live today. Players can currently choose from multiple editions.
First, the standard Pre-Order Content pack rewards players with a Chicken Suit cosmetic. Furthermore, it includes three in-game gifts: a Wild Flower Bouquet, a Toy Chicken, and a Scones & Jam Picnic Hamper. You can give these items directly to NPCs to boost your reputation.
Meanwhile, the Premium Edition offers even more rewards. It grants five days of early access. Buyers will also receive the Splendid Armor and Bastard Armor cosmetic outfits, nine in-game gifts, a digital art book, and the official soundtrack. Most importantly, it includes a post-launch expansion titled Order of the Hero. This story-driven adventure pits players against a secretive ancient cult in a brand-new region of Albion.
Finally, dedicated fans can grab the Collector’s Edition. It features everything from the Premium Edition. Additionally, it packs physical collectibles, including a lapel pin, a hardcover art book, a steelbook case, and a Jack of Blades statue.
