The Punjab government has allocated Rs310 million for “She Threads,” a vocational training initiative designed to build economic independence among rural women through textile sector skills.
According to the officials, women aged 18 to 45 from rural areas across Punjab are eligible to apply, provided they have completed at least middle-level education before joining the programme.
Each participant receives a monthly stipend of Rs15,000 during training, along with transportation support to reduce financial and logistical barriers to consistent programme attendance.
Training is offered across 10 textile disciplines, including industrial stitching, fabric cutting, pattern making, quality control, garment finishing, and apparel planning.
Courses are currently being conducted in four cities: Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, and Faisalabad, with training facilities operating across these major Punjab textile and manufacturing hubs.
As per the official data, over the past two years, around 2,500 women have completed the programme, with 773 securing employment directly upon graduation.
Currently, 1,150 women are undergoing training under She Threads, while an additional 1,350 women are scheduled for enrolment in the next year.
CM Maryam Nawaz said the government remains committed to ensuring women achieve financial independence, describing skilled women as a valuable national asset for the textile industry.
