The University of Health Sciences has introduced a comprehensive ranking and evaluation system for affiliated medical, dental, nursing, pharmacy, and allied health sciences institutions across Punjab to enhance educational quality and accountability.
Under the new framework, institutions will be ranked annually based on a range of performance indicators, including teaching quality, assessment standards, clinical training, faculty development, research productivity, and student support services.
The initiative also includes regular academic audits and institutional reviews to ensure compliance with approved curricula and academic standards.
According to Prof. Dr. Ahsan Waheed Rathore, the new system is aimed at improving educational standards, strengthening quality assurance mechanisms, and enhancing oversight of health sciences institutions throughout the province.
To implement the policy, the university has assigned its Department of Medical Education the responsibility of monitoring academic quality, curriculum implementation, and institutional performance. UHS also plans to develop a real-time digital dashboard that will track key performance indicators and provide ongoing assessments of affiliated colleges.
The ranking system is designed to encourage healthy competition among institutions by recognizing top-performing colleges and creating opportunities for greater academic collaboration, faculty development programs, and research initiatives.
Meanwhile, institutions that consistently underperform may face enhanced monitoring and corrective measures to address deficiencies and improve educational outcomes.
The new quality assurance framework has come into effect immediately and will apply to all constituent and affiliated institutions operating under UHS across Punjab.
