The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has expanded the Wazir-e-Azam Apna Ghar Program to include overseas Pakistanis, enabling them to access government-backed housing finance for the first time.
SBP issued a Circular Letter to presidents and chief executives of all banks, the HBFCL, and microfinance banks, announcing the expanded eligibility under the revised scheme.
Overseas Pakistanis and Non-Resident Pakistanis holding a NICOP or POC card are now eligible to obtain financing under the Apna Ghar Program as per the updated framework.
The government approved these additions as extensions to the scheme outlined under SH&SFD Circular No. 03 of 2025 and Circular Letter No. 1 of 2026, which governed earlier provisions.
Participating Financial Institutions may now arrange institutional financing for government employees through bulk processing coordinated at the department level, streamlining access to the scheme.
Banks and other lenders are also authorised to extend financing for private developer-led housing projects under the Apna Ghar Program, broadening the scope of the scheme significantly.
SBP confirmed that all other instructions relating to the Apna Ghar Program remain unchanged, and the existing operational framework continues to apply to all participating institutions.
