The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to replace number plates on all vehicles registered in the province, officials of the Excise Department said.
According to media reports, the new plates will carry Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) stickers and will apply to all government and private vehicles across the province.
Officials said the RFID stickers would enable identification and tracking of vehicles.
The provincial government currently issues number plates for Rs1,200. Under the new system, number plates fitted with RFID stickers will cost Rs4,000, according to Excise Department officials.
