Train operations between Lahore and Faisalabad have been temporarily suspended after a powerful flood surge damaged a railway bridge near Missan Kalar on the Sheikhupura-Lahore section, disrupting traffic on the affected route.
According to railway officials, the floodwater that hit the area last night caused severe damage to the bridge, with 30 out of its 110 pillars collapsing. The damage forced authorities to suspend train movement until repair work is completed.
Railway officials said trains traveling from Lahore to Karachi through Sheikhupura and Faisalabad are being diverted through Sahiwal as an alternative route to reduce inconvenience for passengers.
Several train services have been affected due to the disruption. The Badr Express and Ghouri Express have been canceled, while the Shalimar Express and Karakoram Express will operate through Raiwind and Sahiwal.
The Mianwali Express, which normally operates between Lahore and Mianwali, has also been diverted through Lala Musa.
Railway authorities confirmed that several other trains on the affected route have either been canceled or shifted to alternative routes as part of emergency measures.
Repair teams have started work on the damaged bridge, and railway officials said efforts are underway to restore the track and resume normal train operations as soon as possible.
Passengers have been advised to check updated train schedules before traveling as restoration work continues.
