Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued a warning urging citizens to remain alert to fraudulent e-challan messages circulating through SMS and WhatsApp.
In a statement, ITP advised the public to avoid clicking on any links contained in such messages, as they may originate from fake websites designed to steal personal or financial information.
The police stressed that citizens should never trust unverified messages or suspicious links claiming to relate to traffic violations.
Anyone who receives a doubtful or fake e-challan notification has been advised to report it immediately to the police or to the Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
ITP further instructed the public to verify and check their e-challan status only through the official government website, rather than relying on links sent via text or messaging applications.
The department reiterated that this precaution is essential to prevent citizens from falling victim to online scams disguised as official traffic communications.
